I was browsing the internet and stumbled upon yet another basketball painting. This one is of Lebron James, and immediately it captured me. It is one of my favorite sports paintings that I've seen.

This is the new flyer that I designed in order to get the word out about the Bass Fishing Club at Ohio State. I did it all in photoshop and was pleased with it overall.

M.C. Escher

Since a young age MC Escher has been my favorite artist. His skill and attention to details are only a small portion of my appreciation of his works. His thought process was so much beyond any other artist of the time, his pieces force your mind to do work while enjoying the quality of work.

Wood Turning Projects

Recently my dad purchased a lathe for smaller wood projects to be made on. Turning wooden bowls and other pieces is a process that i have always been fascinated by. Basically these projects are accomplished by taking a chunk of wood and fastening it to a center point that rotates at a very high rpm, then touch gouges to the surface of the spinning wood in order to carve a design into the piece.


This bowl was made with blocks of already dried wood glued together. This block of wood was then roughly cut into a circle with a bandsaw, then fastened to the center point of a bowl turning chuck. First the layout of the outside was created with a stepdown sort of layout. Then the chuck is moved to the other side of the bowl, and the inside is hollowed out. This hollowing process is much longer and more tedious than the outside shaping due to the idea that you are mainly cutting against the grain when you are inside the bowl. When working on the outside you are cutting with the grain. To finish the process off, while the piece is spinning, sand paper is applied to smooth the surface, then sealer and a varnish are added.

This is a goblet also turned from glued pieces of wood, this is a very delicate piece and can easily break at any second if one of the gouges would happen to catch the grain of the wood. This piece has been sanded but has not been finished or sealed yet.

Etch a Sketch Art

I thought this stuff is wild. Using an etch a sketch as a kid it seemed almost impossible to create anything worth looking at.. but clearly this artist has perfected it and completed perfect renderings.

North Carolina vs. Duke

As anyone in the sports world is well aware, tonight is the most important night in the college basketball season. To some it may be considered more important than the National Championship. The bitter rivalry that puts Ohio State - Michigan to shame.... North Carolina - Duke. It should be a huge game due to the #2 vs #3 ranked situation. Unfortunately tonight is Ohio State's free Will Ferrel concert and that cant be Tivo'd... so i guess im going to have to record the game and get to it later. Hopefully Ty Lawson will be healthy, Ty Hansbrough will put down another hstoric game, Gerald Henderson will get an elboow to the face (just like he gave Hansbrough last year) and Duke will continue to suck with a tragic loss. Can't wait to see them cry.

3D Sidewalk Art

At first glance one might think that the artist is on a building in the first image and the artists is spraying water from a hose in the second piece. But actually both pieces are made with 2D materials to create a 3D look. This artist is Julian Beever, and this is all he does. His work is insanely interesting to me, and i would pay a lot of money to someday have one of his works in or around my house.

Bass Fishing Club at Ohio State

Rarely do i post anything that is not related to art but this is a special circumstance. Over the past few weeks I have been working with one of my childhood friends, who is also a student here at OSU, on starting up a bass fishing club at The Ohio State University. As part of this club members will travel the Eastern United States to compete in collegiate tournaments. The most prestigious of these tournaments being the Big Ten Tournament. No tournament experience is neccessary to join this club but some overall fishing experience is.

The club purpose is as follows: The purpose of the Bass Fishing Club of OSU is to bring students together to enjoy the sport of bass fishing. This club will be affiliated with the Collegiate Bass Anglers Association (CBAA) and compete in CBAA sanctioned tournaments including the Big Ten Classic. This club will also teach fishing tactics to all levels of fishermen and will participate in community activities that enhance the future of bass fishing.

Kid Diptych

This half of the image shows how children who play baseball idolize sports stars. They don't neccesarily realize anything about steroids or any sort of drug.

Bonds Diptych

This is the first half of the Diptych images that I had to put together for my Photoshop class. It covers the idea of the controversy of steroids in sports. The astericks show how the record of all time homeruns was affected by steroids. Also half of the stitches were replaced with syringes.
